Terrorism is "the
unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence against
individuals or property to coerce or intimidate governments
or societies, often to achieve political, religious, or
ideological objectives." (Joint Pub 1-02, Department
of Defense Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms)
Terrorism is a criminal act that is symbolic in nature.
Its intent is to influence an audience beyond that of the
victim. Terrorism is a fact of contemporary life. Although
terrorism is not new, it is a new challenge to our society
and way of life. it is our job to know all that ia available
about this threat to our society and the security of this
nation depends on that knowledge. That is the purpose of
